Lloyd was born on January 29th, 1924.  Lloyd's father was Leo John Boehnen and his mother was Elsa Laura Oberembt.  His paternal grandparents were William Boehnen and Mary Anne Bowar; his maternal grandparents were Mathias Oberembt and Martha Pollack (Oberembt).  He is the youngest of three children.  He had two sisters named Ruth and Helen.

Lloyd and Mary were married in a religious ceremony on September 7th, 1945 in Marine Base Quantico, Virginia by father .  They have two sons and a daughter, named David, Victoria and Daniel.

Victoria was born on December 27th, 1947.
