Ruth was born in 1912.  Ruth's father was Leo John Boehnen and her mother was Elsa Laura Oberembt.  Her paternal grandparents were William Boehnen and Mary Anne Bowar; her maternal grandparents were Mathias Oberembt and Martha Pollack (Oberembt).  She is the oldest of three children.  She had a brother and a sister, named Lloyd and Helen.
