Joseph was born on September 8th, 1859.  Joseph's father was Laurenz Bowar and his mother was Sybilla Schlimgen.  His paternal grandparents were Franz Bouvard and Catherine Isler; his maternal grandparents were Johann Schlimgen and Christina Schuetz.  He was the fourth of ten children.  He had six brothers and three sisters, named John, Mathias, Lawrence, Charles, Henry, Frank, Mary, Josephine and Christine.  He died at the age of 90 on November 9th, 1949.

They had no children.
