Hannah was born in 1822.  Hannah's father was Joseph Essex and her mother was Nancy Mcloy.  Her maternal grandparents were James Mcloy and Rachel Moody.  She was the youngest of ten children.  She had five brothers and four sisters, named Thomas, James, Joseph, Issac, William, Elizabeth, Mary, Nancy and Rhuamy.
