Mary was born in 1868.  Mary's father was Alford S Essex and her mother was Mariah Martin Smith.  Her paternal grandparents were Issac Essex and Susana Neff.  She was the youngest of four children.  She had a brother and two sisters, named William, Sarah and Martha.  She died at the age of 48 in 1916.

William and Mary were married in a religious ceremony on August 26th, 1886 in Boone County, Indiana.  They had two daughters named Viola and Blanche .

Viola was born in 1887.

Female Blanche  Margaret Berkley
Blanche  was born in 1893.  She died at the age of 84 in 1977.
