Sarah was born in 1849 in Hodgensville, Larue, Kentucky, USA.  Sarah's father was Issac Essex and her mother was Susana Neff.  Her paternal grandparents were Joseph Essex and Nancy Mcloy; her maternal grandparents were Samuel Neff and <Unknown>.  She was the nineth of twelve children.  She had six brothers and five sisters, named William, Alford, Thomas, Samuel, James, Solomon, Lucinda, Luanna, Mary, Nancy and Martha.  She died in Hodgensville, Larue, Kentucky, USA.
