Joseph was born on May 7th, 1892.  Joseph's father was Joseph John Fergen and his mother was Katherine Elizabeth Schlimgen.  His maternal grandparents were Mathias Schlimgen and Katharine Elizabeth Schell.  He was the fifth of six children.  He had three brothers and two sisters, named Frederick, Albert, Herbert, Amelia and Josephine.  He died at the age of 79 on February 11th, 1972.
