Gladys was born on December 5th, 1905.  Gladys' father was Charles Bensing and her mother was Elizabeth Bensing.  Her paternal grandparents were Joseph Bensing and Eva Seibel (Bensing).  She was the seventh of nine children.  She had four brothers and four sisters, named Raymond, Elmer, Charles, Chester, Edna, Aleen, Alberta and Elizabeth.
