Anna was born in 1848.  Anna's father was Johann Schlimgen and her mother was Margaretha Jansen.  Her paternal grandparents were Joannis Schlimgen and Eva Zeres.  She was the youngest of six children.  She had a brother and four sisters, named John, Gertrud, Anna Maria, Eva and Louisa.  She had three half-brothers and three half-sisters, named Mathias, Engelbert, Peter, Gertraud, Sybilla and Elizabeth.
