Bertha was born on April 23rd, 1885.  Bertha's father was Mathias John Schlimgen and her mother was Appolina M Fischer.  Her paternal grandparents were Mathias Schlimgen and Katharine Elizabeth Schell.  She was the oldest of ten children.  She had six brothers and three sisters, named Frank, Mathias, Roman, Leo, Joseph, Leonard, Katharina, Wilhelmina and Josephine.  She died at the age of 50 on November 1st, 1935.
