Elizabeth was born in 1835 in Bergheim, Rhenish, Prussia.  Elizabeth's father was Johann Schlimgen and her mother was Christina Schuetz.  Her paternal grandparents were Joannis Schlimgen and Eva Zeres; her maternal grandparents were Hermanni Schuetz and Gertrudis Schuetz.  She was the fifth of six children.  She had three brothers and two sisters, named Mathias, Engelbert, Peter, Gertraud and Sybilla.  She had a half-brother and five half-sisters, named John, Gertrud, Anna Maria, Eva, Louisa and Anna.  She died at the age of 3 in 1838.
