Eva was born in 1844.  Eva's father was Johann Schlimgen and her mother was Margaretha Jansen.  Her paternal grandparents were Joannis Schlimgen and Eva Zeres.  She was the fourth of six children.  She had a brother and four sisters, named John, Gertrud, Anna Maria, Louisa and Anna.  She had three half-brothers and three half-sisters, named Mathias, Engelbert, Peter, Gertraud, Sybilla and Elizabeth.
