John was born on October 6th, 1872.  John's father is John Schlimgen and his mother is Amanda Josephine Heppner.  His paternal grandparents were Johann Schlimgen and Margaretha Jansen.  He is the fourth of six children.  He had two brothers and three sisters, named William, Frederick, Louise, Bertha and Mary.
