Joseph was born on April 4th, 1894.  Joseph's father was Charles T Schlimgen and his mother was Anna Wermers.  His paternal grandparents were Mathias Schlimgen and Katharine Elizabeth Schell.  He was the sixth of eight children.  He had two brothers and five sisters, named Paul, Charles, Emma, Katherine, Emma, Ida and Anna.  He died at the age of 93 in November 1987.
