Joseph was born on July 28th, 1901.  Joseph's father was Mathias John Schlimgen and his mother was Appolina M Fischer.  His paternal grandparents were Mathias Schlimgen and Katharine Elizabeth Schell.  He was the nineth of ten children.  He had five brothers and four sisters, named Frank, Mathias, Roman, Leo, Leonard, Bertha, Katharina, Wilhelmina and Josephine.  He died at the age of 87 on March 28th, 1989.
