Leonard was born on November 23rd, 1903.  Leonard's father was Mathias John Schlimgen and his mother was Appolina M Fischer.  His paternal grandparents were Mathias Schlimgen and Katharine Elizabeth Schell.  He was the youngest of ten children.  He had five brothers and four sisters, named Frank, Mathias, Roman, Leo, Joseph, Bertha, Katharina, Wilhelmina and Josephine.  He died at 9 months old on September 17th, 1904.
