Mathias was born on November 30th, 1827 in Bergheim, Prussia.  Mathias' father was Johann Schlimgen and his mother was Christina Schuetz.  His paternal grandparents were Joannis Schlimgen and Eva Zeres; his maternal grandparents were Hermanni Schuetz and Gertrudis Schuetz.  He was the second of six children.  He had two brothers and three sisters, named Engelbert, Peter, Gertraud, Sybilla and Elizabeth.  He had a half-brother and five half-sisters, named John, Gertrud, Anna Maria, Eva, Louisa and Anna.  He died at the age of 75 on March 12th, 1903 in Parkston, Hutchinson, South Dakota, USA.

They had eight sons and six daughters, named John, Anna, Lawrence, Katharina, Mathias, Charles, Katherine, Josephine, Lawrence, Josephine, Frank, Minnie, Augusta and Roman.

John was born on February 6th, 1854.  He died at the age of 82 on November 7th, 1936.

Anna was born on August 2nd, 1856.  She died at the age of 41 on February 3rd, 1898.

Male Lawrence Schlimgen
Lawrence was born on March 26th, 1858.  He died at the age of 103 on November 12th, 1961.

Female Katharina Schlimgen
Katharina was born on August 9th, 1859.  She died at the age of 2 on November 2nd, 1861.

Male Mathias John Schlimgen
Mathias was born on August 9th, 1859.  He died at the age of 46 on October 6th, 1905.

Male Charles T Schlimgen
Charles was born on May 11th, 1861.  He died at the age of 67 on July 26th, 1928.

Female Katherine Elizabeth Schlimgen
Katherine was born on July 25th, 1863.  She died at the age of 35 on July 5th, 1899.

Female Josephine E Schlimgen
Josephine was born on February 1st, 1865.  She died at the age of 2 on August 27th, 1867.

Male Lawrence J.  Schlimgen Sr
Lawrence was born on February 18th, 1867.  He died at the age of 63 on November 6th, 1930.

Female Josephine A. Schlimgen
Josephine was born on December 7th, 1870.  She died at the age of 24 on April 18th, 1895.

Male Frank Schlimgen
Frank was born on January 13th, 1873.  He died at the age of 24 on March 25th, 1897.

Female Wilhelmina (Minnie) Schlimgen
Wilhelmina, known as Minnie, was born on May 18th, 1875.  She died at the age of 72 on July 21st, 1947.

Male Augusta Schlimgen
Augusta was born on September 8th, 1877.  He died at the age of 21 on July 31st, 1899.

Male Roman Schlimgen
Roman was born in 1878.  He died in 1878.
