Mathias was born on January 12th, 1889.  Mathias' father was Mathias John Schlimgen and his mother was Appolina M Fischer.  His paternal grandparents were Mathias Schlimgen and Katharine Elizabeth Schell.  He was the third of ten children.  He had five brothers and four sisters, named Frank, Roman, Leo, Joseph, Leonard, Bertha, Katharina, Wilhelmina and Josephine.  He died at the age of 27 on April 9th, 1916.
