Paul was born in 1885.  Paul's father was Charles T Schlimgen and his mother was Anna Wermers.  His paternal grandparents were Mathias Schlimgen and Katharine Elizabeth Schell.  He was the oldest of eight children.  He had two brothers and five sisters, named Charles, Joseph, Emma, Katherine, Emma, Ida and Anna.
