Josephine was born in 1872.  Josephine's father was Mathias Schmitz and her mother was Elisabeth (Louisa) Schlimgen.  Her maternal grandparents were Johann Schlimgen and Margaretha Jansen.  She was the second of four children.  She had a brother and two sisters, named Frank, Louise and Eva.  She died at the age of 93 in 1965.
