Christina was born in 1871 in New Jersey.  Christina's father was Nicholas Seyler and her mother was Elizabeth Ecklin.  Her paternal grandparents were Nicholas Seyler and Wilhelmina nee Schilb; her maternal grandparents were Andreas Ecklin and Elizabeth Schrode.  She was the third of five children.  She had four brothers named Henry, Edward, Frederich and Will.

John and Christina were married (further details are not known). They had two sons and three daughters, named George, Esther, Fritz, Caroline and Mary.
